Ah the smell of odourless solvent .. wait, what, that's right, classes are back for 2019!! A new class is being offered on Monday night, portrait painting classes will be starting Friday 1st of February from 2pm - 5pm and a planned visit to the botanic gardens are all on the current agenda.
Over the holidays we visited the Queensland Art Gallery and had a lovely end of year lunch at GOMA restaurant. A particular highlight for me at the QAG was the John William Waterhouse painting 'The mystic wood'. Painted by Waterhouse towards the end of his life, it has a veritable plethora of information regarding his working process and provides great lessons to any aspiring or professional artist. The application of paint bespeaks a lifetime of experience. I particularly like the finished portraits, so brilliantly executed and exquisite in colour temperature. Whom would have thought such a rich and fascinating work to be found in Brisbane.. a real find.
