About Founder and Owner Mark Feiler

Australian artist and educator Mark Feiler grew up in Mackay, North Queensland. He currently works from his home Studio in Highgate Hill Brisbane, South-East Queensland.

Feiler attended Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, where he studied Fine Art from 2007 to 2009 where he was trained as a painter and worked on perfecting his drawing and oil painting skills. He also attended Brisbane Arts Académie Morningside.

From 2014 Mark taught Portrait and Figure drawing and painting at Atelier Art Classes in Salisbury up until 2020 when Covid interrupted Studio classes. In 2020 Feiler began and continues to run Brisbane Art Classes an online, and in-person art school, where he teaches portraiture, figure drawing, oil painting and landscape painting.

Mark has exhibited Nationally and Internationally and has been a prize winner and finalist in a number of Art competitions. He was the recipient of the jealous curator’s choice award for The Kennedy Prize, a prestigious Australian art award for artworks that embody, comment on or celebrate beauty.  Mark is greatly inspired by beauty, truth, nature and passionate about the history of the Classical Western Artistic tradition. His work centers around the human figure with a particular emphasis on character and on the landscape.

Brisbane Art Classes run by Mark Feiler are the best I’ve been too. I had been trying to attend the studio sessions for years and when I finally had the chance COVID hit. Thankfully Mark developed the virtual classes which have been amazing and just the creative escape I needed. Mark gives loads of individual feedback and direction that’s easy to understand. I did a short course online that explored the principles of figure drawing. It went for five weeks and in that time I became more passionate about learning to draw.
